TSMC's 10nm chip has been mass production MediaTek X30 is expected to start

Tencent Digital (Wang Yang) November 24 news, after Qualcomm and Samsung announced the launch of the 10nm Xiaolong 835, now TSMC also said it will mass production 10nm chip.

According to Digitimes, the main customers of TSMC's 10nm chip are currently Apple (probably A11 processor), MediaTek (Helio X30, X35) and Huawei Hisil Kirin (Kylin 970).

TSMC has not announced the technical details of its own 10nm chip, but from the previous foreign media reports, TSMC has actually begun production of 10nm chips in the third quarter of 2016. The first batch of customers has received a good yield. The chip products will be mainly used in high-end smart phones in the future. The previous 16nm technology will be used in low-end mobile phones, such as MediaTek's P20 series that debuted at the end of the month.

At the same time, there is also news that the first to use 10nm process technology is expected to be MediaTek Helio X30 chip, is expected to put into operation by the end of next year, the official launch of the first half of next year. However, it is not yet known who will be the first cell phone equipped with a 10nm process.

In addition, TSMC previously publicly stated that it will further develop a mobile SoC with a 7nm process and will begin mass production in 2018.
