Synaptics unveiled the new R66452 Display Driver IC (DDIC) solution for superior display performance for smartphones with OLED screens. The Synaptics ClearView R66452 display driver features a rich set of features, the company's leading image processing technology, and a new front-end display technology designed specifically for OLED screens.
Synaptics' R66452 OLED DDIC uses Synaptics' latest OLED screen image processing technology, including flexible digital gamma control for smooth light adjustment, local local ACL for high contrast text, and high-precision color enhancement, while supporting High Dynamic Rendering (HDR). The R66452 is designed to provide a superior VR experience for smartphones with OLED screens by supporting screen refresh rates and HDR up to 90Hz. In addition, the R66452 solution runs integrated RAM for low power and supports full HD screens and Full HD+1080x2160 (18:9) OLED screens to drive the next generation of "Boundless Display" smartphones. The solution is suitable for COF packages for flexible screens and COG packaging for rigid screens.

The Synaptics ClearView R66452 display driver is expected to be sampling to leading LCM vendors in the coming weeks. Mass production will be realized in the second half of 2017 to cater to the launch of the next generation of smartphones using OLED screens.
