Connection methods for capacitor shunt compensation - News - Global IC Trade Starts Here.

Capacitor shunt compensation is available in both star and delta connections.
If the rated voltage of the capacitor is the same as the grid voltage, a triangular (â–³) wiring method should be used. Because of the delta connection, even if the capacitor has a phase fuse blown or a single-phase ground short circuit occurs, the other two-phase capacitors can withstand the same voltage and still work normally. Therefore, when the high-voltage side is concentrated, the triangular wiring method is often used. If the star (Y) wiring method is used, the situation is different. For example, in a three-phase three-wire system, when one of the phase fuses is blown, the voltages of the other two phases are lowered, and the capacitor cannot operate normally; when a single-phase grounding short circuit occurs, the voltages of the other two phases will rise to the line voltage. It is easy to cause capacitor breakdown.
Regardless of the type of wiring used, the voltage that the capacitor is subjected to should match the voltage rating of its own. Long-term over-voltage operation of the capacitor is not allowed, and its operating voltage cannot be excessively lower than the rated voltage. Otherwise, the reactive output will be reduced and the capacitor will not be fully utilized.
