Fairchild (NASDAQ: FCS), the world's leading provider of high-performance power semiconductor solutions, is helping manufacturers improve product reliability and performance with an expanded portfolio of extended temperature (ET) medium voltage MOSFETs that operate at 175° C . Higher operating temperatures increase power density by 85% and are three times more reliable than MOSFETs rated at 150° C industry standard.
This new ET MOSFET product family meets the IPC-9592 power conversion standard, in other words, its maximum junction temperature can be as high as 150° C, which exceeds the 125° C that can be achieved with standard 150° C MOSFETs, making larger design margins possible . The product line includes 19 new devices in a 5 mm x 6 mm and 3 mm x 3 mm standard package and a new TO-Leadless (TO-LL) package. These devices offer a wide range of voltage ratings including 30V, 40V, 60V, 80V, 100V, 120V and 150V.
Fairchild 's ET MOSFET family combines superior high temperature performance, higher power density and higher reliability, making it ideal for a wide range of applications such as DC-DC, AC-DC and motor drives. Avionics, miniature solar inverters, power tools and telecommunications.
Suman Narayan, vice president of Fairchild's iFET product line, said: "As the newest member of Fairchild's entire line of ET MOSFETs, the new family offers designers greater design margins when designing products that can or must withstand high temperatures. Without relying on heat sinks or other cooling methods that increase product cost and complexity. These new devices inherit Fairchild's heritage and provide designers with outstanding solutions that significantly increase design margins compared to competing products."
The ability to operate at 175° C makes these new ET MOSFETs ideal for products that must operate in high temperature environments, such as solar and Power over Ethernet (POE) applications. In addition, the reliability of the equipment is greatly enhanced, which is a great advantage for products used in harsh environments, such as avionics, railways and power tools.
Providing an extended temperature range and higher power density in an ultra-small package is a major advantage of the series, allowing manufacturers to gain more product design flexibility. It helps designers reduce product size while maintaining the same power output or increasing power output without increasing size.
Fairchild will participate in the 2015 APEC exhibition in 3.16-19 in Charlotte, Northern California, with a booth of 905. Our technical experts will discuss and answer questions about extended temperature (ET) medium voltage MOSFETs and other energy efficient solutions on site.
