Element14 has announced the availability of high current density Mega-Fit power connectors from Molex to further expand its connector product inventory. Molex is the world's leading provider of complete interconnect solutions for a wide range of applications in the telecommunications, consumer electronics, industrial, automotive, aerospace and defense, medical and lighting industries.
Designed with 5.7mm pitch and pitch, the Molex Mega-Fit power connector delivers industry-leading current density of 23.0A per channel. Its compact design combined with high current terminals make it one of the industry's highest power density power connectors .
It features a split-ended terminal design with six independent contacts that provide redundant current paths for virtually any industrial application and deliver long-term performance and reliability. The Mega-Fit connector retains many of the common features of the Molex power connector product line, including isolated terminals, pressure-locked housings, and polarized housings.
Other features include:
· Its contacts allow the system to perform up to 30 "hot swaps" at 48V/23.0A
· Use 5.7mm small lead pitch and provide 23.0A current
·Extended barrel type conductor crimping for powerful terminal-to-wire retention
Fully isolated connector pins and socket terminals prevent potential damage during handling
·Pressure lock housing ensures secure connection when socket and connector are mated
· Available in right angle joints and vertical joints
Mega-Fit power connectors are ideal for applications requiring power from 14.0 to 23.0A per terminal, covering a wide range of industries including telecommunications/networking, consumer/home appliances, commercial vehicles and industrial.
The introduction of Molex Mega-Fit power connector is one of the major investment initiatives taken by e Farnell, greatly expanded e Farnell connector inventory. Through recent continuous investment, e-Network has expanded the inventory of thousands of component products to provide better support services for the design activities of e-community engineers.

Copper Flex Membrane Switch panels can be produced using polyester or polyimide (Kapton) as the base material, depending on your interface requirements. A very thin sheet of copper is laminated to the flexible film substrate then chemically etched away, leaving copper traces. The etching process is not environmentally friendly due to the chemicals used, and is also more expensive than screen printing the silver traces used in Silver Flex Membrane Switches. Copper Flex switches can be constructed as:
Single-sided – conductive traces one side of the film substrate
Double-sided – conductive traces both sides of the film substrate
Multi-Layer flex – a laminated [sandwich" of numerous layers with conductive traces
Rigid-Flex – a laminated combination of a Copper Flex switch with a rigid FR4 PCB membrane switch
