Small Buck LED Driver Controller for Energy Efficient, High Density Lighting Design
ON Semiconductor's NCL30100 is a new step-down LED driver controller that provides an excellent solution for space-constrained and energy-efficient high-brightness LED driver applications. This new controller helps designers optimize their solutions over a wide range of LED drive currents, from low-voltage halogen to LED lamp replacement, LED track and landscape lighting, and solar LED products. The NCL30100 meets the latest design energy savings requirements and delivers up to 95% energy efficiency. In low voltage AC applications, the NCL30100 can be dimmed with a standard wall dimmer.
Next-generation ESD protection components for high-power HBLEDs
ON Semiconductor's new CM1771 is a 100 V back-to-back electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection component that extends the operation of HBLED lamp modules. It is the industry's first ESD protection solution for HBLED with a breakdown voltage of 100 V. This component is part of ON Semiconductor's innovative LuxGuard® family of high voltage ESD protection solutions for general lighting, signage, automotive and commercial lighting applications. The CM1771's proprietary side-mount construction provides reliable and symmetrical ESD protection in a tiny, cost-effective die that can be easily integrated into a wide variety of HBLED lamp modules.
Adjustable constant current regulator for LED lighting applications
ON Semiconductor has expanded its tunable constant current regulator (CCR) products. The new CCR provides surge voltage suppression, protects LEDs in general lighting and automotive lighting, and is simple and reliable, providing a cost-effective, stable current design for LEDs. The new high-density CCR components eliminate the need for additional steady flow within the system design, providing engineers with a highly effective LED protection solution with tight application budgets and development schedules. These CCRs are available in high-density, high-thermal reliability and RoHS-compliant packages using halogen-free mold compounds and lead-free lead finishes with an operating temperature range of −55 °C to +150 °C. All are certified to the AEC−Q101 standard.
Low power LED driver optimized for button battery powered backlighting applications
The CAT3661 is a new single-channel Quad-ModeTM LED driver that delivers up to 92% energy efficiency and extends battery life in a variety of portable applications, including handheld medical devices. The CAT3661 is capable of driving a single LED backlight at up to 5 mA. Soft start current limiting and short circuit protection make this new component ideal for button battery powered devices.
GreenPoint® Design Tools
ON Semiconductor has developed innovative GreenPoint® tools that provide interactive online design and verification to accelerate solid-state lighting solutions. This GreenPoint® tool automatically calculates the optimum circuit configuration based on design requirements such as LED configuration, voltage, current, or switching frequency, selects the appropriate inductor and capacitor values, and displays the final design in an interactive online circuit diagram.
Once the design is validated, the GreenPoint® simulation tool produces a bill of materials (BOM) and a comprehensive design report that includes simulation results, schematics, and design data.
