The reporter learned from Nanjing Aerospace University on the 23rd that the "unmanned aerial platform search and positioning system based on drone platform" independently developed by the team of Professor Wu Qihui was The 46th Geneva International Invention Exhibition, which just ended, won the gold medal.
Illegal radio stations that have been repeatedly banned may be subject to civil aviation radio frequencies and may even affect civil aviation safety because of their privacy and harmfulness. The traditional mobile monitoring vehicles are vulnerable to multipath fading and lack of maneuverability, making it difficult to efficiently find and monitor "black broadcasting". Professor Wu Qihui's team innovatively applied artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to UAV search and positioning, and realized intelligent search and positioning of illegal radio stations.
Project member Hu Tianyu said: "This system is said to be a 'flying' spectrum monitor." The drone is equipped with a small-volume, low-power, lightweight spectrum monitoring module and directional antenna and camera. The captured frequency and energy relationship are transformed into images, transmitted to the ground signal station, using the machine learning algorithm proposed by the project team to search for illegal stations in real time, while planning the drone track online, and finally locating the illegal station.
Compared with the traditional mobile monitoring vehicle, the UAV search and positioning system realizes the 2D to 3D leap, effectively avoiding the impact of the complex environment on the ground. Through the organic combination of machine learning technology, drone flight control technology and spectrum monitoring technology, the project can detect the target within 5 km of the other party, so that the effective detectable distance and exploration efficiency can be improved by more than 5 times compared with the traditional method.
Wu Qihui said that the core technology of the project has been applied for patents and is expected to be used as a security equipment in major events such as the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. At the same time, it is also expected to be used by civil aviation administrations and other institutions to protect the spectrum safety of civil aviation.
