Panda claims that an employee of the company ordered a new Magic phone through the Vodafone UK site and found malicious pieces on the phone.

Panda researcher Pedro Bustamante said on the Panda research blog on Monday: "After our colleague connected the Magic phone to the PC via the USB interface, the Panda cloud computing antivirus software installed on the PC was detected Autorun.inf and autorun.exe are malicious pieces. A virus-infected mobile phone can infect all connected PCs. "The malicious pieces are related to the Mariposa botnet. Other malicious pieces were found on the phone-Conficker worm and password theft Trojan.

A Vodafone spokesman declined to comment. However, there are reports that Vodafone has issued a statement that it will investigate this. The statement said: "We tested the HTC Magic phone and found that it was an isolated incident."
