How do you add access protection to blocks created by STEP7 users? -Solutions - Huaqiang Electronic Network

STEP 7 provides KNOW_HOW_PROTECT protection for the program. If you open a block that uses this protection function, only the block interface parameters (IN, OUT, and IN/OUT parameters) and block comments are visible, and program code, temporary/static variables, and network segment comments cannot be displayed.

The following describes how to set the KNOW_HOW_PROTECT protection function for the blocks (FBs, FCs and DBs):

No. Step 1 Open the block to be edited and select "File > Generate source..." in the LAD/STL/FBD editor to generate the source file. 2 Enter the project name in the dialog that opens, such as "Protect_FB". 3 The "Generate source <name>" dialog box is displayed. Select the block you want to convert and click the arrow button to move it to the "Blocks Selected" window on the right. After confirming with OK, the STL source file is generated. Close the LAD/STL/FBD editor.

4Open the most recently generated source file in the "Sources" folder of the S7 program. Insert the "KNOW_HOW_PROTECT" command under the "TITLE" statement in the declaration section.

6 Save the block protection by saving the compiled STL source file via the menu "File > Save" and "File > Compile".

note:
The protection of the block can only be removed by the STL source file. If the program via the "KNOW_HOW_PROTECT" command or the STL source file in the project is no longer available, the protection of the block can no longer be removed.
