On January 12, 2010, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Rockler Companies jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made LED lamps.
The recalled Rockler LED luminaires are equipped with replaceable spotlights or magnifying shades, product number 26429 (concentrator cover) or 27017 (enlarged lamp cover) marked on the outer packaging. The LED luminaires were sold at Rockler Woodworking stores and other hardware stores nationwide from March to October 2009 at a price of $60 per set.
The number of recalled goods was about 2,200 sets. The reason for the recall is that there is a defect in the internal power cord of the lamp, which may cause the battery case to overheat and explode, posing a fire or burn hazard to the user. As of now, Rockler Companies has not received any incident reports.
To this end, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommended that consumers immediately stop using the recalled LED luminaires and contact Rockler Companies for free maintenance.
