Secret acquisition of indoor positioning company Apple wants to muffle things?

In the early hours of the morning, Apple released a patent report entitled "Apple's next-generation indoor positioning technology based on inertial navigation." According to foreign media, Apple secretly acquired a Finnish company called "indoor.io" last year to promote the indoor positioning project that Apple has already developed. In 2013, Apple also acquired WifiSLAM, a company derived from the Stanford University project.

In fact, Apple has applied for related patents as early as 2008. In addition, in early November, Apple applied for an AR map patent, and Apple is likely to introduce AR features in future map applications.

Apple’s secret acquisition came from a new report from Bloomberg, which also pointed out that Apple is struggling to catch up with and surpass Google Maps in the field of outdoor positioning. “Apple wants to check the roadmaps by manila, track the changed roads and monitor the areas in the construction. The collected data will be fed back to the Apple team to quickly update the map application and provide users with the latest information.”
