QNX launches new technology concept car to reimagine driving experience

Beijing, China, January 11, 2013- QNX Software System Co., Ltd., a global leader in automotive electronic software platforms, recently launched a technology concept car at CES 2013, demonstrating how the QNX CAR â„¢ 2 application platform has designed the automotive industry Flexibility and development speed are pushed to a new height.

The concept car is based on the Bentley ConTInental GT Convertible and integrates technology that has never been used in any car before. It fully shows how QNX can help customers create the future "connectable cockpit". To build the concept car, the QNX concept team used the same basic platform as provided to automotive customers, vividly showing how the platform can help automotive companies build unique, cutting-edge products.

Derek Kuhn, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, QNX Software Systems Co., Ltd., said: "From smartphone integration to 3D navigation, our key customers in the automotive industry are facing pressure to deliver to the market at a speed that is synchronized with the update of mobile phones. Rapid evolution has become commonplace, and QNX ’s CAR application platform has been specifically designed to help automotive companies maintain automotive-grade reliability and performance while also meeting expectations for product launches. ”

The concept car not only verified the flexibility of the QNX CAR application platform, but also demonstrated the rich technology partner ecosystem that QNX has built over the past decade. Highlights include:

Revolutionary instrument console using Texas Instruments DLP® display- farewell to the traditional flat touch screen. The super-large DLP display has an organic curved surface, full HD graphics, and TI's optical touch input technology. The physical control knob can be directly installed on the screen, thereby achieving an ideal balance between physical and touch screen control. The “always available” 3D navigation from Elektrobit takes full advantage of this display so that drivers can always know where they are currently. In addition, Crank Software ’s Storyboard ™ suite was deployed for the development of dynamic user interfaces and rich animations.

Natural speech recognition based on AT & T WatsonSM- just say "Hello Bentley", the car's speech recognition system will immediately interact with you with a clear British accent. Because the system uses Truly Handsfree â„¢ keyword recognition technology from Sensory, it can be operated without buttons. AT & T Watson speech recognition technology provides strong support for the system, enabling hands-free control of the media player and navigation system functions. The AT & T Watson multi-mode and multi-language speech engine runs on cloud-based servers with low latency and high recognition quality. The system also uses QNX's intent (intent recognition) architecture to make AT & T Watson suitable for a variety of in-vehicle applications.

Flexible integration with smartphones- This Bentley also demonstrates how the QNX CAR application platform can achieve advanced integration with popular smartphone platforms. For example, a car can communicate with a user ’s smartphone to play music, or provide notifications of emails, news feeds, and other real-time information, and display it in a manner suitable for the car environment.

The first multimedia system to realize the deployment of the in-vehicle Shazam music discovery service— the infotainment system includes the deployment of HTML5, Pandora® Internet radio with deep integration with media players, and the first implementation of the Shazam® music discovery service in automobiles

Web application for remote monitoring- simply connect to a web application and keep tags on Bentley in real time. Bentley provides a cloud connection and continuously releases a variety of data (current media tracks, fluid levels, tire pressure, etc.). You can view these data on any device using a browser that supports HTML5 without downloading the application. In actual applications, only the driver can obtain this information, but for the convenience of demonstration, it is currently open to the public to demonstrate the possibility of cloud access.

Video conference with a realistic telepresence - Bin Lee offers advanced video conferencing capabilities, the mobile office concept to a new level. Equipped with separate cameras for drivers and passengers to provide independent video streams, high-fidelity voice technology from QNX provides extended bandwidth to maximize applications, and stereo telepresence makes remote calls close at hand.

Reconfigurable digital instrument panel—A completely software-based digital instrument panel that can be dynamically reconfigured to provide drivers with a large amount of situational awareness. For example, it integrates with the 3D navigation system of the center console and displays the direction of rotation where it is easiest to see. It can also display current weather conditions and video from the rear camera of the car, as well as a tachometer, speedometer, and other virtual instruments.

LTE connection—Bentley has an LTE wireless modem and Wi-Fi® hotspot for in-vehicle devices.

The QNX reference car equipped with mobile phone integration and user personalization-QNX also showed another QNX reference car-a modified Jeep Wrangler that fully demonstrated the various ready-made functions of the QNXCAR application platform 2.0. Highlights include one-touch Bluetooth® for smartphones using NFC, a car-centric HTML5 framework that facilitates the use of the mobile phone ecosystem, DLNA® support for mobile phones and home media, high-definition hands-free communication, and Advanced personalized options for drivers, OEMs and developers. The car also integrates many partner applications and technologies to achieve functions such as hybrid navigation, natural voice settings, streaming Internet radio, weather reports, parking lot search, Twitter® access, FOTA software updates, and integrated Bluetooth.

QNX Software Systems has licensed software technology for millions of in-vehicle systems worldwide, including digital dashboards, hands-free systems, multimedia hosts, connection modules, and 3D navigation systems.

Business Tablet

A business tablet must have powerful business functions. At present, users use tablet products more for entertainment, and insufficient development of commercial value has become a major factor restricting the development of tablet computers. Many far-sighted terminal manufacturers have set their sights on the business tablet field.
Generally speaking, when business users choose tablet PC products, they still focus on "regular items" such as processor, battery, operating system, and built-in applications, especially office software applications, which are a good helper for business users.
First of all, there must be powerful office software such as customer management software, which can record customer data and related information anytime, anywhere. There is also a need for powerful marketing software, software marketing, reducing manual intervention, and one person can handle all the publicity and customer information.
