Panel price manipulation case: AUO insisted on insolvency

Taiwan’s media reported that in response to lawsuits filed by the U.S. states to manipulate LCD panel prices, AUO said that they have hired a lawyer to prepare themselves for defense in court.

Chi Mei said that they will investigate the case after receiving a court summons.

At present, eight state governments in the United States have filed lawsuits against major panel makers around the world for the price of LCD panels, including Chi Mei, AUO, Samsung, LG, and Sharp.

Most of these companies have already pleaded guilty to the investigation by the US Department of Justice. Only AUO has insisted on pursuing its innocence, and has expressed its desire to arguing in court.

The industry believes that most manufacturers are likely to reach a settlement with the U.S. state government in compensation to avoid more complicated court procedures in the future. After all, they have pleaded guilty to the U.S. Department of Justice and it is difficult to win a lawsuit.
