AIXTRON, a leading supplier of deposition equipment to the global semiconductor industry, has formally entered into a strategic partnership with Manz Group, a specialist equipment manufacturer based in Reutlingen, Germany. The two companies will jointly develop high-performance OLED production solutions to jointly grasp the future market opportunities of OLED technology.
Based on this strategic cooperation, the two companies will jointly develop a demonstration system that utilizes Ai Siqiang's patented OVPD® process technology to efficiently deposit organic layer materials on the 8th generation substrate (size 2,300x2, 500 mm2). This new demonstration system will demonstrate to the industry for the first time the advantages of OVPD® technology in the large-scale, high-efficiency production of organic light-emitting diodes for display and lighting applications at reasonable prices.
Manz brings its extensive experience in the purification and processing of large glass substrates, as well as in the development and manufacture of large vacuum systems. The high-performance organic layer material deposition process is considered to be the key to producing large-size OLED devices in an economically viable manner. In this cooperation, Ai Siqiang will further develop its OVPD® process technology. Through cooperation, it is expected to produce highly uniform and easily stretchable films with excellent material utilization and deposition efficiency.
The new system will be assembled in the clean room of Ai Siqiang in the coming months. In addition to demonstrating OVPD's proprietary processes and the ability to scale large-size substrates, the partnership will also focus on meeting market demand for new components.
