At the 7th China International Semiconductor Lighting Forum, VEECO President John R. Peeler announced that it will expand into the Asian market on a large scale to better support the fast-growing LED industry and meet customer needs.
"We see this as a huge opportunity to help Asian customers improve LED brightness and reduce LED costs faster," said Mr. Peeler. "The new generation of organic metal chemical meteorological precipitation (MOCVD) equipment and customer training has reached an unprecedented level of technology, while We also provide world-class service support."

Shanghai, China - Shanghai Training Center (STC): Customer Support and Training (planned for the first quarter of 2011)
Hsinchu, Taiwan - Taiwan Science and Technology Center (TTC): High-end Application Center and Demonstration Laboratory (planned for the first quarter of 2011)
Korea - Korea Development Center (KDC): world-class engineering and process development center, including equipment demonstration and customer training (planned for launch in the second half of 2011)
Singapore: expanding production centers and supply chain centers
Japan: Transition from agent sales to direct sales and maintenance (planned for January 2011)
Mr. Peeler also mentioned that “Asian customers are accelerating the adoption of LEDs in consumer electronics and solid-state lighting. We believe this strategic investment of more than US$25 million will give Veeco the number one equipment supplier in Asia. To ensure a win-win situation for Veeco and its customers. Over time, we will also use these new facilities to provide customer support to the solar and other cleantech markets."
